Bought this as a replacement for my 20+ year old battery for an ICOM IC-R20 aviation transceiver. The battery pack is made well, just about as good as the OEM pack but I found that after installing it on the radio the pack did not fit tightly enough onto the radio to make good contact. If you wiggle the pack the power goes out and then comes back on. My solution was to bend the metal guideways on the battery to make it fit a little tighter. It seems to work better now but that’s something that shouldn’t have to be done. Another annoying problem is that after the pack was charged for a day or so and installed on the radio, the “Battery” warning on the display came on. Seeing that I had charged it for over a day, I put it back on the charger for another day and the same thing happened. I left the radio on for well over a day and the battery didn’t die. I’m assuming it might have something to do with the fact that this pack is made with NiMH bateries and the OEM one was made with Nicads. The sensor in the radio might read the voltage or amps differently with the NiMH batteries…don’t know, but the bottom line is that they do hold out for a long time. Just annoying to see the warning indicator on all the time.
